PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

This daylong CE program is designed for psychotherapists and others who are interested in getting an overview of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), an innovative, 8-week program that combines Western psychological concepts and Buddhist meditative (mindfulness) practices to bolster recovery from depression and prevent relapse.

Workshop participants will learn: (1) how MBCT was developed and clinically proven as an effective treatment for recurrent depression; (2) how MBCT uses both cognitive insights and mindfulness techniques to help people work more skillfully with the painful thoughts, feelings and bodily sensations associated with depression; 3) how these same insights and techniques can be applied to anxiety; and 4) why learning MBCT in a group setting offers several important benefits.

The day will combine didactic presentations, small group exercises, guided meditations, Q&A sessions and discussion.
